Best Valentine’s Day quotes to write in a Valentine’s Day card

Valentine’s Day 2020 is here – and if you’re not sure what to write in your card, these romantic quotes should give you some inspiration

Love it or hate it, there’s no denying that today is one of the most romantic days of the year.

Couples around the world will be marking Valentine’s Day with flowers, chocolates and gifts, as it’s a day devoted to celebrating romantic love.

The tradition of sending Valentine’s Day cards in particular dates all the way back to the Roman Empire.

Emperor Claudius II had banned his soldiers from getting married, as he thought having wives and families would make them poor fighters.

Valentine, who was a priest, thought this was unfair. He continued to perform marriages in secret, but was eventually discovered and sentenced to death.

Before his execution he sent one final note to the woman that he loved – signed “from your Valentine”.
